What is it?
The Ultimate Cyclocross Wheelset for those on a budget!
When designing an alloy wheel for cyclocross, we asked how to best design around a 700x32mm tubular tire. Tubular is still a big advantage in cyclocross where the lower pressures can be the difference between drilling the corner or being heckled for sliding out and falling down. With the low pressures and heavy cornering, keeping a tire securely glued in place can be a challenge.
This is where the 32mm rim bed radius sets the Black and Tan apart from any other wheel on the market. It used to be you would need to build up layers of glue to smooth out the rim bed and get enough contact with the tire.
Black and Tan
rim to tire security
With the Black and Tan rim profile you have a gluing surface that fits the tire perfectly, holding more secure for the ultimate cyclocross weapon!
Why do I need it?
You want to have the advantage of a tubular with the ability to run lower pressures in cyclocross with having a secure edge to edge gluing surface. You would rather ride through that off camber muddy corner than embarrassingly fall down in front of a bunch of your friends (who will absolutely upload the video for all to see). Basically, if you are looking to have the ultimate wheelset for cyclocross on a budget, then you need this!
Your wheels deserve the human touch. Our wheelbuilders put the same care into every wheelset that they would their own. Whether you are just riding for fun or winning a national championship, you deserve the confidence in knowing your wheels are built right.
For most of us, cyclocross is a way to keep fitness through winter in a fun way. If your cyclocross bike is not your primary bike, but you want to be competitive, the Black and Tan wheels are a great performance to dollar ratio.
