If at first you succeed, try again!
We are big fans of making wheels that can be ridden for training, events, or just for fun. For those looking to do events, we are also big fans of giving you a place to ride those wheels. While we can't organize an event for all of you, we can do something in the Southeast.
Many of you may remember that in February we organized our first ever gravel event in the Sumter National Forest. That ride was a huge success with over 200 people attending and having a blast.
With that, we are super happy to announce our Fall for Gravel series this October in the Carolinas. This consists of two gravel events, each one on amazing course with very little traffic and some very cool features. Both courses have a minimum tire recommendation of 700X32mm.
Greenwood, SC
First off, on October 5th we have the Greenwood Gravel Grinder. This course is approximately 75% gravel and 25% pavement. It's in a very remote area, and every time we ride we average getting passed by one car over the 65 mile course! The terrain for this ride is a lot of rolling hills and by the end you'll be surprised to have accumulated close to 4000 feet of climbing.
Greenwood will have 50km and 100km course options. We have secured nutrition from Honey Stinger and NUUN for the rest stops. We are also serving an amazing free BBQ lunch afterwards for all participants!
Tryon, NC
The second event is the Tryon Gravel Gallop (Tryon is a horse town) on Saturday October 26th. The city of Tryon has been extremely gracious in hosting the event offering Police support and a downtown start and finish. Situated on the escarpment of the SC/NC state line, the Tryon course features a great combination of climbing, rolling terrain, smooth gravel, gnarly gravel, and bears.
Distance options are 100km (with 6,000 feet of climbing), and 53km (with 2,700 feet of climbing). Both rides feature a long downhill at the end. Coast into town and enjoy the post event BBQ and free beer!
The route for this event traverses many of the same roads as the popular Boyd's Birthday Ride
