Welded and ground seams provide exceptional braking performance. Extra deep anodization hardens and strengthens the rim. The result is a rim perfect for training, hilly terrain, or gravel and CX riding.
Use the Altamont Lite for rides where the speeds are not as high and weight savings becomes more important that every gram of aero drag. This means your hilly rides, cyclocross events, gravel rides. . . or just lighten up your bike in general.
Being an alloy wheelset, this is priced much more budget friendly than a comparable carbon set, so this can make a great upgrade to an stock wheelset that you just can't get very excited about.
You want to ride in hilly terrain or go out for some great gravel rides. Use as a tubeless ready cyclocross rim with a rim bed designed to lock in tubeless tires at lower pressures.
If you have a nice newer disc brake bike, yet it feels sluggish and boring whenever you hop on, this set is just the energization you need!
Front Wheel: • 24 spoke front (for riders 180 pounds and under) • 28 spoke front (for riders 180 pounds and above) Rear Wheel: • 28 spoke rear (for riders 180 pounds and under) • 32 spoke rear (for riders 180 pounds and above)
IMPORTANT - Minimum tire size 30mm. Max 70PSI. This is not the wheelset to use with both 25mm road tires and also gravel tires. The Altamont Lite is perfect for that. The CCC is a gravel optimized wheelset, for when you want to have the best possible configuration for those larger tires.
If you're going to ride the gravel roads, we think you should know where they came from.
The CCC is a gravel-specific wheelsetbuilt to take you far off the beaten path. The new light weight, durable alloy wheelset complements Boyd’s current carbon Pinnacle 700c and Jocassee 650b offering and promises adventure at an affordable $700 price point.
The CCC, a name engrained in history as the wooded roads it represents, borrows its moniker from the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The CCC was a voluntary public unemployment program designed to provide jobs for young men and to help families who faced challenges finding jobs during the Great Depression. In the mountains of South Carolina there are remnants of “Old CCC” roads deep in the woods that have become favorite exploration destinations for Boyd Johnson, founder of Boyd Cycling.
The 6069 series alloy rim weighs in at 415 grams in a 700c size and 395 grams in the 650b. Spoke count options are 24f/28r and 28f/32. The rim features external nipples drilled at a 4 degree angle.
“Going way off the beaten path and onto roadbeds that haven’t been active for decades is some of the most fun I’ve had on a bike,” said Johnson. “I’ve come across old moonshine distilleries and people on 4-wheelers, but neverany traffic. Going that remote means the durability of the equipment is a must.”
With that in mind the CCC is a wheelset that can handle rugged off-road terrain, while still performing on pavement sections. The alloy gravel-specific rim is 25mm internal and has a 2.8mm offset. It features smaller .7mm hooks (compared to most standard 1.1mm hooks) with increased thickness on the hook walls (1.35mm) for better impact protection while running lower pressures.
Gravel seems to be all that everyone is talking about. Gravel rides and races are exploding in popularity. However, most people have a gravel bike as their second or third bike. Outfitting that bike with carbon wheels is not for everybody, and having a price-attractive, high performing alloy wheelset is a much needed product.
If your rides ends covered in mud and dirt, and a giant smile on your face, the CCC is your perfect compliment to ride into the heart of adventure.

Weight is a priority, but not having a wheel taco on you in the middle of the woods is a bigger priority! You want the ability to run a variety of tire sizes, and of course set it up tubeless for the best puncture protection and handling. Focus more on having fun, not worry about your wheels.
"I worry about my kids. I don't want to worry about my wheels. I've been riding these wheels for more than six months and have put them through the toughest terrain I've ever willingly ridden. They've spent more time in the air than any other wheels I've ever ridden. During that time, I've asked myself repeatedly if this set of wheels lacks anything I want from a wheelset."

The Ultimate Cyclocross Rim for those on a budget!
The 32mm rim bed radius sets the Black and Tan apart from any other wheel on the market. It used to be you would need to build up layers of glue to smooth out the rim bed and get enough contact with the tire. With the Black and Tan rim profile you have a gluing surface that fits the tire perfectly, holding more secure for the ultimate cyclocross weapon!
With such a large radius on the rim bed, this rim is designed around larger tubular tires. Of course, there's a heavy focus as being an ideal cyclocross wheelset. However, for those riders who have discovered that 30mm tires on the road are super fun, the Black and Tan can also be used as a road and crit rim. 90% of the people who are looking at the Black and Tan will be looking at it for cyclocross, and that is where this rim really shines!
You want to have the advantage of a tubular with the ability to run lower pressures in cyclocross while having a secure edge to edge gluing surface. You would rather ride through that off camber muddy corner than embarrassingly fall down in front of a bunch of your friends (who will absolutely upload the video for all to see). Basically, if you are looking to have the ultimate rim for cyclocross on a budget, then you need this!
