Altamont Lite - Shave Weight, Not Strength!
The biggest question we get, "What is the difference between the Altamont and the Altamont Lite?".
With the Altamont, the focus was on a semi-aero alloy rim shape. A rim that keeps you rolling on the flatter to rolling terrain. Well, for a lot of us, weight savings is more important that a bit of aero gain. The Altamont Lite excels here, taking a 5mm shallower rim (25mm deep versus 30mm). We were able to make a wheelset with the same strength, same durability, same spoke count options, and shave 90 grams of rotating weight over the deeper Altamont version
Welded and ground seams provides exceptional braking performance. Extra deep anodization hardens and strengthens the rim. The result is a wheelset perfect for training, hilly terrain, or gravel and CX riding.
Use the Altamont Lite for rides where the speeds are not as high and weight savings becomes more important that every gram of aero drag. This means your hilly rides, cyclocross events, gravel rides. . . or just lighten up your bike in general.
Being an alloy wheelset, this is priced much more budget friendly than a comparable carbon set, so this can make a great upgrade to an stock wheelset that you just can't get very excited about.
You want to ride in hilly terrain or go out for some great gravel rides. Use as a tubeless ready cyclocross wheelset with a rim bed designed to lock in tubeless tires at lower pressures.
If you have a nice newer disc brake bike, yet it feels sluggish and boring whenever you hop on, this set is just the energization you need!
